# benchweave stop

Stop the gateway serving this data directory (the doorbell).

``` bash
benchweave stop [OPTIONS]
```

Plain stop: idle drains, releases the hold and exits 0; a live run refuses typed naming the run (nothing stopped, nothing recorded). `--protective` routes the existing protection engine through the cancel seam, waits the verdict-stated commissioned window, and escalates to one audited SIGKILL past it.

    Options:
      --data-dir PATH  At-rest data directory (holds state.sqlite + content/).
                       [required]
      --protective Cancel any live run through its commissioned safe
                       transition, then drain and exit (the deliberate human verb
                       -- the systemd unit's ExecStop stays plain; an unattended
                       protective ending is the manager's own
                       SIGTERM/TimeoutStopSec/SIGKILL ladder).
      --json Emit the stable machine JSON contract instead of text.
      --help Show this message and exit.
